Youth & Children Ministries

Early Childhood Education Center

Every Sunday morning from 8:30 to 11:30 am, our Early Childhood Center is professionally staffed -- providing care for infants through preschoolers.

Sunday School

Sunday School is provided every Sunday for children aged kindergarten through 5th grade. Children begin their worship experience in the sanctuary with their parents, then leave right after the Children's Time during the service. Teachers escort the kids to the Christian Education wing of our building. (NOTE: There is no Sunday School on the 1st Sunday of each month, as we at First Presbyterian have children to keep all generations of our church family together to participate in Communion Sunday - which is always the 1st Sunday of the month.

LOGOS

LOGOS is for youth preschool through high school, and happens every Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm during the fall
and winter months (usually late September through March - with a break for Christmas holidays).

The notion behind LOGOS is patterned after the ministry of Jesus' disciples: gathering to teach, to fellowship, to break bread, and to pray. In action practice, LOGOS has four distinct parts:

- Worship Skills: exploring the joy of making music, learning about worship, preparing to lead worship services.

- Recreation: a time for crafts, laughter, play and lots of good-natured fun! The goal of recreation is to have a great time together, learn new skills and enjoy friendship.

- Family Time: time to celebrate relationships as Children of God around the table with a meal, conversation and inter-generational friendships. Dinner is prepared by volunteers and then served family-style. Each meal has a fun theme, and everyone takes a turn serving each other.

- Bible Time: a focused opportunity for children and youth to learn what the Bible says about who God is and how God wants us to live our lives, as Children of God.

There is a fee associated with participation in LOGOS that goes to cover costs of meals as well as some of the crafts materials. Some level of parental involvement/volunteerism is required. Contact Kathy Price for more information.

Adult Bible & Theological Study Opportunities

Sunday Morning Adult Bible Study

On Sunday mornings, adult Bible study is offered both before and after the worship service for your convenience - at 8:30 am and again at 11:45 am -- so you have a choice of times to attend! Pastor Phil leads the study in the Church Library. Choose the time that works best for you, and join us!

Sunday Afternoon Theological Study

A joint theological study joining interested participants from the congregations of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Episcopal Church of the Ascension and First Presbyterian Church is held at 4:00 pm. Through 21 weekly sessions, we will study "Living the Questions," a powerful curriculum focused on what it means to live the teachings of Jesus Christ in our day-to-day lives. This is a unique community-building opportunity to strengthen our daily walk as followers of Jesus.

  • September through December 2018, the study will be at Ascension Episcopal.
  • January through March 2018, the study will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran.
  • April through June, the study will be hosted at First Presbyterian.

Thursday Night Bible Study

Thursday nights at 7:00 pm in the Church Library, Pastor Phil teaches a Bible study based on selected curriculum which participants may purchase. For more information or to purchase curriculum for the current course, contact Pastor Phil.

Friday Afternoon Bible Study at Bridgeview Estates

Every Friday afternoon at 1:00 pm, Bob Parkinson leads a Bible study group at Bridgeview Estates, since First Presbyterian Church has a number of congregants in residence there. (Address: 1828 Bridgeview Blvd, Twin Falls.) Anyone who is interested is encouraged to participate, regardless of where they live! For more information, contact Bob Parkinson.

Music Ministries

Chancel Choir

If you love to sing and are Grade 9 to age 99, you are invited to sing in the First Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir. Enthusiastic singers are needed in all sections of the choir, and if you're not sure what part you sing - we'll help you figure that out! No audition is required. Prior experience is helpful, but not required. We practice Sunday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 am in the sanctuary and perform during the worship service that follows at 10:00 am. Chancel Choir has summers off, so doesn't meet during June, July and August. If you have questions, contact Choral Director Melanie Halsell.

Hallelujah Handbells

First Presbyterian's handbell choir rehearses at 7:00 pm on Wednesday evenings from September through May. We invite anyone interested in ringing to join us, whether you attend First Presbyterian or not. We are happy to include those 6th grade through 106 year of age! Bells are easy to learn to ring, and although it is handy to have some knowledge of music, no musical experience is required. We do request members to commit to attending the weekly practices on a regular basis, as well as our performances, and to arrange for a sub if they cannot attend a performance. We will be ringing for one First Presbyterian Church morning service each month on a Sunday. For more information, contact Barbara Mix.
